The "vegetarian working week"

Our latest project on the topic of sustainability

At in-factory, sustainability is not just something that is written on paper, but something we live by. This year, we are launching several small projects with the aim of effectively anchoring the concept of sustainability in the minds of our colleagues.

Our first campaign took place from Monday, May 09, 2022 to Friday, May 12, 2022: Our "vegetarian work week"!

The idea of "Go vegan for one week" was passed on to the sustainability team from the colleagues' circle. For the implementation, we modified the rules slightly to make the group of participants as large as possible. We adapted the "week" to a "working week" - i.e. 5 days instead of 7 - and replaced "vegan" with "vegetarian". We also asked that the products should ideally be seasonal and regional. Participation was voluntary.

Participation was higher than expected - almost a third took part and gave up meat for a working week, and almost half of them ate exclusively vegan products. The selected pictures give you an impression of what was "on the plate" during this week.

We have received overwhelmingly positive feedback on our campaign. Some colleagues are already giving up meat, others found it easier than expected to give up meat, and still others would rather not change their habits. Of course, the effort involved in working from home was somewhat greater, especially if you wanted to eat fresh, seasonal produce from the region. In order to get through the vegetarian working week as efficiently as possible at home, we had already discussed simple menus in advance. Of course, there was no need to cook for ourselves at the customer's canteen or in restaurants, but there was a sufficiently large selection of vegetarian menus.

The bottom line is that the feedback and participation were very positive. You can achieve a lot with just a few changes. We will certainly repeat this campaign - perhaps with a joint cooking evening where we can expand our vegetarian cooking skills.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our colleagues who took part!
