Cloud Application Integration (CAI) - Introduction

Back to overview

What is Cloud Application Integration (CAI)?

CAI is a provision of applications and data in the cloud. CAI is part of the Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS). With CAI, it is possible to create easy-to-use user interfaces even without programming knowledge.

CAI is IICS' solution to support integration, data sets and user types, as well as to realize business process automation, accelerated transactions and real-time analytics.

The solution is based on the implementation of a modular microservices architecture. Future business requirements are supported in an agile manner. It also supports modern and unique integration patterns, including the integration of local data into the cloud, data synchronization, process orchestration and much more. The following figure shows a simplified example of such a process in Informatica.

Example process in CAI

The most important functions

Process Server:

is the scalable runtime and process management engine that meets the requirements of the cloud.

Process Console:

is responsible for scheduling processes and implementing new or updated processes. It provides an interface for setting and managing process server instances and usable resources.

Process Designer:

is an Eclipse-based IDE for developers and includes the specifications of BPMN, BPEL and BPEL Extensions.

Secure Agent:

is a lightweight software with which secure interaction via the firewall between companies and Informatica IICS is realized.

Connectivity:

  • REST (XML/JSON, JSON/RPC or SOAP) services can be integrated via a form. If the service provides a WSDL or Swagger interface document, it is possible to create the service connector by importing the document.
  • The data service connectors, for example JDBC, OData, SAP Table Reader, etc., are used for CRUD processes.
  • Integrated JMS, AMQP and Amazon Web Services SNS/SQS messaging services are available for processing the queue.
  • Content is integrated by the File Content Listener and Writer.
